Find Your Signature Speaking Style
Last month I spoke about having presence in the room, whether you are presenting or holding space to share ideas, this month I want to notch it up a gear.

Ever wish you could command attention and inspire your audience every time you speak?
Having presence is one thing, but if you want to ensure you get rebooked, you have to show a part of your personality that is not always easy to tap into and become a charismatic speaker.
Unlock Your Inner Charismatic Speaker and Captivate Every Room!
Charisma is the ability to emotionally engage an audience, building trust so they want to hear more. Your body language needs to match your words and your tone.
It seems like some people just have “it”!
What is the “it” that makes you appear charismatic, even when the subject you are speaking about is not particularly fun or interesting?
Move With Purpose
Don’t stay glued to one spot! Use the room to your advantage—walk confidently.
Moving purposefully not only draws the audience in but also helps you feel more energized and connected. Find a spot and move to it with intention, don’t just move from side to side. When you get there, stand tall, with a grounded stance, using open gestures and direct eye contact to connect with your audience.
But eye contact is scary!!
When I started out I received a few tips that really didn't work for me, like:
Imagine everyone naked… nope! That one was really not helpful!
Look above everyone’s head and scan the room … again not helpful, everyone is wondering what's going on behind them.
So here’s a few tips that work well for me:
Find a friendly face in the room, someone who is already smiling at you – this helps you relax and feel connected with them.
Hold your eye contact for 3-5 seconds, either on one person or in a general area. If you have a large group – your audience will feel like you are talking directly to them and that they are not just another body in the room.
Square up to the person you are looking at – no one wants to feel like you are glancing over your shoulder at them.
Master the Art of Storytelling
Stories are your secret weapon. Share personal anecdotes or examples to turn facts into memorable moments. When your audience relates to your stories, they’re more likely to remember your message—and you!
The Power of the Pause
Want to add drama and suspense? Use pauses strategically. Whether it’s before revealing a key point or after sharing an impactful statement, a well-timed pause lets your words sink in and keeps listeners on the edge of their seats.
It can feel very uncomfortable when you start, just stick with it, practice it.
It’s a muscle you need to flex and build.
I promise it will get easier.
With these simple strategies, you’ll not only find your signature style but also boost your charisma every time you speak.
Go ahead—step up, speak out, and captivate your audience!
If you have a speaking opportunity coming up and want to get some direct feedback, let me know, I’d love to help you experience the Lightbulb Moment when you find your charismatic self.
